Craig Mountain Area Ride

Category: Chapter News
By: Janiece

Thirteen riders made it to the ride at Eagle Point in the Craig Mountain area. It was a beautiful sunny day with a slight breeze blowing which made the temperature just right for man and beast.

We left the trail head after Lynne Wetterlin presented the prayer. I was bringing up the rear this time since KC had the idea that she only had two speeds slow and stop. You know, being in the rear position isn’t always bad. There was not much dust since motorized vehicle are not allowed in this area except for a couple weeks during hunting season so it was not only dust free but noise free as well, pretty nice! As we rode closer to the Salmon River Breaks some very awesome views started showing up. Far off in the distance was the Seven Devils Mountain range they were simply beautiful.

We stopped for lunch once we reached the top of the ridge where you were able to stand there and get a 360 degree view of God’s handiwork. The only wild life we saw were a few turkeys and three hunters getting ready for opening day. Everyone kept telling me that they saw a large herd of elk last year when they rode this same trail.

I am constantly amazed at what the good Lord has created for us to enjoy. Face it, you just can’t get much better than this, good friends, good horses and awesome scenery. What more can one ask for? Until next time.
