White Pine Trail Riders (June Ride)

Category: Newsletter, Chapter News
By: Norma Bishop, Whitepine Trail Riders

Hello Everyone from the Whitepine, Our ride on June 24, took 16 of us to Frye Point. A couple of new riders joined us, which is always nice. The day was cool and crisp, partly sunny which was nice since they were predicting rain.

I rode my new horse, Dusty, a five year old quarter horse gelding. We had a few lessons on the way, taking coats out of saddlebags and putting them on while in the saddle. I think that he especially liked Daphne, Dave's mule. His head came up every time she came near.

We rode out on old road beds and ate lunch overlooking the breaks of the Salmon & Snake Rivers. Dave & Mary shared brag pictures of their grandson. Such a cutie and growing like a weed. Joe shared pictures of his Mt. St. Helen's climb and his Alaskan Bear Hunt. Awesome pictures.

We took several pictures of our own of the great scenery before getting back in the saddle and heading back. On the way back, we stopped for more photos looking out over the Grande Rhonde and Snake River. The breaks looked like they were covered with velvet. Looking down makes you feel so small. Such awesome country we live in.

We all arrived tired and safely back at the trailers. The ride was about 14 miles in all.

Until next time,

Norma Bishop,
Whitepine Trail Riders
